Applications

 

 

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is a kind of white crystalline powder, melting point 240℃(decomposition);

 

The solubility of the water is 0.5g/L(25℃), insoluble in general organic solvents,

soluble in 160 pieces of boiling water, soluble in sodium hydroxide and other basic solutions;

 

The carboxyl group tends to be removed at 150℃.

 

EDTA has a wide range of uses and is the representative substance of chelators.

It can form stable water-soluble complexes with alkali metals, rare earth elements, and transition

metals.

 

Widely used in polymer chemical industry, daily chemical industry, paper industry,

pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, textile printing and dyeing industry, aquaculture, photographic

chemicals, oilfield chemicals, water treatment agents, boiler cleaning agents, and analytical reagents.

 

EDTA can also be used to detoxify harmful radioactive metals by rapidly excreting them from the body.
