Applications
It is a naturally occurring flavonoid glycoside that can be isolated from a variety of plant sources or derived from the flavonoid hesperidin. It was first isolated from Scrophulariae nodosa in 1925 and was first introduced as a therapeutic agent in 1969.
Its saponin is a kind of biological amine. It is obtained by extracting hesperidin from citrus and then converting hesperidin into its saponin. It is considered as a vasoprotective agent for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, hemorrhoids , lymphedema and varicose veins. As a flavonoid, its total saponins also have anti-inflammatory, free radical scavenging and anti-mutagenic properties. It has been used as a venous and vasoprotective agent for more than 30 years, and it has recently been used for other therapeutic purposes, including cancer, premenstrual syndrome, colitis and diabetes.
Its main functions and advantages
1. It prolongs the vasoconstriction effect of norepinephrine on the blood vessel wall, increases venous tension, thereby reducing venous capacitance, dilatation and stasis.
2. It can increase venous return and reduce venous hypertension in patients with CVI.
3. Potato Di saponin improves lymphatic drainage by increasing the frequency and intensity of lymphatic contraction and increasing the total number of functional lymphatic capillaries.
4. Other powders containing hesperidin can reduce the diameter of lymphatic capillaries and intralymphatic pressure.
5. At the microcirculation level, its saponins can protect the microcirculation from damage, thereby reducing capillary permeability and increasing capillary resistance.
6. It reduces the expression of endothelial adhesion molecules and inhibits the adhesion, migration and activation of white blood cells at the capillary level. Potato flour can reduce the release of inflammatory mediators (mainly oxygen free radicals and prostaglandins).
