There are many synthetic methods of chloroacetic acid, including acetic acid chlorination, acetic anhydride catalytic chlorination, trichloroethylene hydrolysis, glycolic acid chlorination, tetrachloroethane hydrolysis, etc. The acetic acid chlorination method is mainly used in domestic industrial production. , the advantage of this method is that it does not use sulfuric acid, and the raw material is cheap, CH3COOH+Cl2→ClCH2COOH+HCl
Add a certain amount of glacial acetic acid to the reaction pot, use 3.5% sulfur powder of glacial acetic acid quality as a catalyst, preheat to above 90 ° C, start to pass an appropriate amount of chlorine gas, two reaction pots are connected in series with chlorine gas, the main pot control temperature is (98± 2) ℃, the auxiliary boiler is 85-90 ℃, and the chlorine gas flow rate is about 70kg/h. When the relative density of the material in the reaction pot is 1.350 (80°C), the reaction end point is reached. The reactant was pumped to an acid tank, cooled and crystallized, the crystals were separated, and then the mother liquor was exhausted below 38°C to obtain the finished product chloroacetic acid. In addition, experiments have also shown that, in addition to sulfur powder, acetic anhydride can also play a better catalytic role in the above-mentioned chlorination reaction under the same conditions, and the effect is better than that of sulfur powder.
There is also a trichloroethylene hydration method. Trichloroethylene reacts with concentrated sulfuric acid, the reaction temperature is 160-180°C, the sulfuric acid content is kept at 93%, the ratio of trichloroethylene and water is controlled, and monochloroacetic acid is obtained through addition and hydrolysis of sulfuric acid in the reaction process.
