Properties
Potassium tert-butoxide is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide and other organic synthesis, such as transesterification, condensation, strong rearrangement, polymerization, ring opening and the production of heavy metal orthoesters. It can be used to catalyze Michael addition reaction, Pinacol rearrangement reaction and Ramberg-BacChemicalbookklund rearrangement reaction; potassium tert-butoxide is used as a condensing agent and can be used to catalyze Darzens condensation reaction, Stobbe condensation reaction; it is also a traditional generation of dihalogenated carbene The most efficient base for the alkoxide-haloform reaction.
Applications
It is used to prepare β-indoleacetic acid with N.formyl-o-toluidine as raw material.
For printing and dyeing, catalysts, etc.
It is a moderately strong base commonly used in organic synthesis.
Potassium tert-butoxide is mixed with alkyl lithium to make Schlosser base.
